I joined a Marvel Legends collector group and immediately had to leave it after seeing half of the top posts were people being snide and actually gloating about buying all of the Psylocke packs. The other half were people scalping it.

It really is disgusting and sad to see this still going on. The community should be using our voice and buying power to insist that hasbo either stop this “exclusive” thing, when clearly its not benefitting collectors, or offer alternative buying venues. And YES I KNOW that negates the whole exclusive thing but they did it to themselves.

The community should not be catering to scalpers. Scalpers only exist because people keep feeding them. Thats not on hasbo, Target, Walgreens, Amazon, etc.

I’d love to see a concentrated effort to get these figures to collectors in Canada and overseas at REASONABLE prices. No more than $5.00 more than what we pay in the US.

Kind of odd to use these pink force field pieces for a Max Magneto instead of making it clear for a max Sue Storm. It’s not like they didn’t know the movie was coming out ya know? That being said, I wouldn’t for sure turn down a really nice Mags. It’d be nice to have some big girders and pieces of car or something that could attach to the force field for a swirling power effect that could surround him. Not super excited for a Deadpool. I was more looking forward to the rumored Thor.

Wait a minute. I was just looking back at the pic of the force field for Magneto. Am I late to the party here, or did anyone else see that the Magneto has a cloth cape, the legs look new and that helmet might even be removable!

We get offered a figure that is between 1/2 to 3/4s of the way there at first, only to get the fully-fledged version at some point down the road, Two examples of that: Banshee and Lilandra. Banshee has two portraits, one with side burns, one without. The one without is his yelling sculpt–using his powers, objectively his ideal almost default) look. With FOMO in play, that set is one that collectors will buy, but……as practise has shown…..we WILL get that yelling head WITH sideburns later, probably on a body with a different costume to frustrate us all again.

Oddly, with Banshee they already had the chance to do that, but didnt. The classic green/yellow version could have reversed the sideburn situation from what was included with the 90s team 3-pack Banshee.

That would have been a major incentive for me to get the classic one.

Mezco’s are def a hit or a miss but they’ve gotten somewhat better over time. Maximum Hulk was not bad, just wished it was half the price. If you’re someone who just wants one hulk figure- this wouldn’t be bad. Yes the cloth goods can hinder articulation- I’m not sure he would work well in a legends display- he looks way too mature and detailed next to the more toyetic legends. Mezco’s are for the adult collector but they make them with more quality rather than legends. For me, if one wanted to buy legends for the kids to play roughhouse with, it’s more doable.

Yeah I could see it standing out a bit too much trying to pose it with legends. But we both agree that if someone wants that one definitive Hulk? This may be the one.

I was a bit bummed out by my Indiana Jones. Toht too. The sculpts and soft goods were generally pretty good. Lots of accessories, the light up ark, etc. But Toht’s jacket is kind of useless. And Indy’s holster has no fastening. I can probably do something with a tiny magnet.

The legends community subreddit is pretty chill for the most part. People try to help others out. You have a few rotten apples as you do in any community. But people on that subreddit will post links to preorders (as they do here as well). They will post sightings of areas where they find figures.

I know a lot of people were excited to have it in hand. One guy reposted a pic someone had posted elsewhere where one individual had a truckload of them and it is sickening.

Mezco can be hit or miss. I am happy folks will have it as an option if they were left wanting with Maximum Hulk. I picked up Maximum Hulk (I didn’t own a Hulk otherwise).I know a lot of people felt $60 was a point of contention for Maximum Hulk. But a Mezco is like $120-$150. That’s what the Ragnarok Hulk is. In terms of sculpting it looks solid. The only drawback is that Mezco’s can have somewhat limited articulation depending on the soft goods. Hulk shouldn’t have any problems with his upper body. They gave him Butterfly joints as well. But the legs could be limited by the soft goods pants. My Indiana Jones is kind of limited that way. You have to be careful to not stress the fabric. The face sculpt on Indy also doesn’t really look like Ford.

I wonder how he would look in a display next to legends. The more realistic look may not fit as well if someone has mostly legends? But if they want just one definitive Hulk? Probably the way to go.

I am surprised they didn’t come out with a rivals legends wave featuring these.

Coming into SDCC, I was very hyped, but now it feels like I’ve psyched myself out. I genuinely feel like for the vast majority of companies, it was lackluster showing. And IMO no one was weaker than Hasbro’s, from the reveals in digital to physical just kinda suck and many really suck. Hope Hasbro brings heat in their next live stream because this wasn’t it at all.

Hasbro kind of has us by the “short and curlies”, don’t they?A captive niche audience, keenly interested in a specific series of products/brands and now socially programmed to “jump” more or less on command. Dangle the carrot in front of us, and we start drooling for it.Classic Pavlovian response. But I think that is largely on us–it is classic FOMO.I don’t think Hasbro is necessarily being deceptive, because they do plainly show the renders, the prototypes and the promo picks—so we know what we are getting…… there’s no real “bait & switch” going on. What there IS taking place it a kind of odd “dangling-tease” happening. Eventually…….the “correct” version will appear. Do you jump now, or wait? Because you never know if it will appear again…………… FOMO………FOMO……….FFOOOMMMOOOOOO…..Lilandra first appeared as a add-in portrait for the Walgreens exclusive Mystique. The implied idea what that this was our shot at the character/figure—you had to kitbash the look using another figure to finish her.And then they released a proper Lilandra in a two-pack. And once again, FOMO is the psychology behind it all, and we obligingly jump through the hoops again………and again………and again. As a collector of ML since the beginning, I’m not only wary of the practise, I’m scornful and even petulant about it. I look really closely at what is offered before I buy and cherry-pick what is available. But, at the same time………..I get it……..it’s how to do business in a collector environment–variations and iterations add variety and populate a brand. They don’t state it anymore, but I have a LOOOOONG way past the ol’ thinking of ” collect them all”.

Just pulled the trigger on Mephisto, I felt like I must, since I’ve wanted a Mephisto for gosh knows how long, and I’m thankful we got a chance, but after I did so, I thought about it all, is this really worth the price, I know age old talking point, but the actual figure is so not MTO worthy, not like Dragon Man, sure sure there is a very detailed throne involved, which likely raised the cost as absolute unique tooling, but I feel kinda a bit like…hmmm, did it have to go this way with this, and then I remember the way the Hasbro team kind of got a bit mean when asked by a few people about these tier characters for the Robbie HasLab, and I kind of felt a way, like a bit jabbed, You didn’t back this, we told you, you wouldn’t get these characters if not, you won’t see them, then yet here Mephisto is…and an MTO, and this price…fine…anyways I want and love it so I’m going to shush…butt

The thing I have observed with these toy companies, and probably Hasbro more than any other, is that you cant actually take what they are saying as truth, especially when it comes to pushing sales. At the end of the day, the faces of the Marvel Legends team are salesmen. Their job is to get people to buy a product that is being presented at the moment it is available. At the time of the Ghost Rider Haslab, I cant help but feel they were getting kind of desperate. The thing was going to fail, and the only real selling points were the add on figures. They swore up and down that those characters wouldnt be produced again- why? Because they needed people to fork over money right then and there. Now that a couple years have passed, Hasbro realizes they can still capitoline on a Mephisto figure, and thus we now how one available (we also got a version of Goblin Queen through the 97 line). Hasbro only speaks in absolutes when it will profit them in the moment, but at the end of the day, the company will go back on its words if it feels like doing so would also profit them. I am not saying dont trust the Hasbro team, but I am saying realize that salesmen push sales. It is their job. They say what needs to be said to try and make sales happen, but the longevity of what they say may only apply until the company or the team feels otherwise.
