I disagree that Spidey will be the more popular character in that two pack. eBay will be the ultimate judge.
On Uma Poison Ivy, there is another Uma Poison Ivy coming. No one knows what it will be. Some hope for some kind of re-release. Others hope for the longer dress costume she wears during the movie.
You are right about E-bay being the judge at the end of the day. It will be interesting to see at least. I have my crow ready :).And I hope for a re-issue like the Dark Knight Ledger Joker. I missed out. But I understand people wanting a different variant.

While I agree that Venom is popular, I don’t think that him having an easy time selling means Jeff wouldn’t. That little shark is essentially the mascot of the game, and one of the characters that gets the most skins for that reason. Hot Toys has an entire line of Jeff keychain plushes, and their Cosbi line for Rivals consists of 9 figures, 4 of which are different Jeffs. Not to mention there’s a market for indie Jeff figures like this one, this one, this one or this one (not trying to aggressively drive the point home, I just think these are neat lol). He’s crazy popular.
With enough effort, Jeff could easily have been a stand-alone release. And Hasbro could’ve justified the cost via retoolings. Some of Jeff’s skins like Business Shark or Maid to Chomp could be made using soft overlays:
Fair points. Still though, with all the indie figures out there? Maybe Hasbro/Disney also saw that as a reason/excuse not to fully commit? Launching a new line, maybe they are playing the “wait and see” how it performs? I don’t know. While there is an indie scene? The Indie scene can also be fairly niche (Depending on the property). As someone who made Indiana Jones customs, for example? There are custom headsculpts for various characters from places like Syndicate Customs. Mola Ram, for example. And that’s also an example in favor of your argument, too. Because Mola Ram, I am sure, would have sold better than the likes of Helena Shaw or Renaldo. And Mola Ram would certainly have been more niche than Jeff. We are talking about a 40-year-old film versus a game that is still in the cultural zeitgeist. But Disney probably didn’t want the backlash over the imagery/film. Jeff would not have had that kind of concern surrounding him. And they were probably obligated to make Helena, Renaldo, etc., as tie-ins for Dial of Destiny. And to your point, yes, they would have been able to give him overlays and reuse him. Who knows what kind of licensing deal was made? And to be clear, I do wish he had been articulated regardless of being in a single or 2 pack.

Great looking customs! Nice job! It’s Monica Cap Marvel legs on the first one right?
Thanks! And yeah, I used the Monica legs, and drilled the fur from a set of retro cat legs and slid it over/cut to fit around the legs. I had to do some custom sculpting and then superglued the fur cuff in the back. The chest was from Metaverse Customs. Ab crunch was from Uncanny Widow (that I had to sacrifice because of the design of the peg). The other is just an Outback Rogue/Shriek body, and the chest from a Skyline cat with fur wrapped around the legs. Would love if Hasbro took the Skyline cat, made her pinless and double-jointed with the super articulated female body. Would save a lot of work. lol.

Yeah no jeff if actually given some real decent articulation and that extra sprinkle of love, could have easily been a stand alone figure, EVERYONE knows Jeff now a days he has truly exploded, I mean he was destined to be a hit, he’s a cute Shark doggie named Jeff,, like obvi, anyways wild how Jeff has totally trancended comics, and may be one of the low-key/high-key biggest new things marvel has going for it right now, Squirrel Girl as well…Rivals really pushed her into some sort of new wild fandom, People I know who don’t even care about Marvel, Comics or Video Games, are like OOOh cute Jeff, and we love Squirrel Girl.
Go figure.
PS. also thanks for showing me some of those indie Jeff figures, a few are better then Hasbrozz, I think I might make a purchase.
Do you think it is Hasbro or Disney stipulating which characters get made, and which appear in two packs? Or does Hasbro have full control over that?I just think about all the other silly decisions. Both in terms of Legends and otherwise.
See example about Indiana Jones above. The same team that makes legends made the Adventure Series figures. (the Men in suits line). They gave us Toht… But they didn’t give us any army builders. No German Mechanic. (And I realize it’s hard to market/sell figures of what are essentially members of a certain political party from the 1930’s Germany. But then they also gave us Voller, Toht, and Donovan. They put the lapel on but stopped short of the insignia, obviously. But there wasn’t even an Indy in disguise. No Mola Ram. No Willie Scott (in her red dress). No Lao Che. The characters they could have done were left untouched, and money was left on the table. And we know that was Disney because Lego had a Temple of Doom Lego set in the works that got cut. Like, I get these are toys. But the majority of people buying figures of Indiana Jones are in their late 30’s-40’s. And the irony is that the Adventure Series offered a few things that Legends could benefit from. “Ball pegs” for hands, for example. But Disney likely demanded movie tie-ins…which is how we ended up with pegwarmers like Helena, Voller, Renaldo. Then there were the MTG figures. As an extension of the MTG Spidey set? We know that Hasbro/WotC essentially had to create an entirely new set of digital cards for Arena because they couldn’t get the license from Disney to create Arena-compatible Spidey cards, because Disney was afraid it would compete with Marvel Snap. But even within the Legends team? If I recall correctly? Bobby Valla once commented on his time working for Hasbro, where he wanted to make a white jacket Kingpin. And another designer or Exec said how no one wanted a figure of just a fat guy. And then he made the Kingpin. And when they revealed him at some convention? The audience went wild. And Bobby said, “Just a fat guy, huh?” Kingpin is THE Fat guy. (think this was in a vlog Bobby posted to Youtube. Not sure what episode, but he has a channel for valaverse).
Anyway, that’s why I wonder just how much these decisions are actually made beyond the Legends Team? Because it seems like Dwight and Dan, at least, are kind of keyed in to what fans want?

They showed its bendable, but won’t hold a new shape unless you did some extended techniques to it.
I actually love the gliding cape, but wish it came with a stand for that pose to work.
So you would have to heat it up, I am guessing? That sounds like a huge PITA every time you’d want to change it. Soft goods bendy wire swap will probably be the way to go. I imagine you will be able to find such on GPS Lot, etc?
