Actor Pedro Pascal plays Reed Richards/Senhor Fantástico in Marvel’s Film Universe (MCU), but denies that his character will be the new leader of the Avengers.
Fantastic quartet director Matt Shakman suggested in an interview that Reed Richards would lead the Avengers, which generated repercussion among fans.
Pedro Pascal stated that Matt Shakman’s statement was a misunderstanding, saying that leading the Avengers is not necessarily the future of his character.
“It’s a big news for me, to start,” Pascal said. “I think Matt Shakman was giving an interview and when he talked about Reed… there’s something that happens in the comics where he is kind of attracted by the Avengers’ family and invited to take a leadership position. This is something that really happens in the comics. But it’s not necessarily something that is part of my character’s future.”
Pedro Pascal mentioned that, in the comics, Reed Richards is occasionally called to take a leadership position in the Avengers, but this is not confirmed to the MCU.
Fantastic Four is currently on display in theaters.
