I’m back with another Deddy Bears review from the Deddy bears Minifigures line and this time I’m checking out Muertobear, a Day of the Dead/ Dia de los Muertos themed bear. I love the beautiful colors and festive designs during the celebration and this guy really appealed to me. He’s one of the rarer bears in the series, packed at a rate of 1 in 24. I found a new case of the series 2 Deddy Bears at a Five Below near me back at the end of July and scooped him up. Muertobear is fun, colorful, and decorated with some really beautiful patterns. He’s ready for a celebration as he loves music and dancing! Ready to check out this cute little fellow? Then join me after the break…
The Positives:
* I just absolutely love the colors of Muertobear! He’s bright with pastels of the primary colors and is just an incredibly appealing little figure. He’s a solid little guy permanently attached to his display stand and he just has a ton of personality. I like how he’s emoting a bit. I’m not sure if he’s dancing or trying to look scary, but he sure is a charmer.
* The little design on his belly is cool, as are his blue claws. What I really like is the flower he’s carrying. I’m surprised it’s not a Marigold, which is such a prominent fixture of the holiday. Roses and carnations are seen too, though, so I’m presuming that this is one of those. Maybe a carnation?
* Muertobear’s calavera inspired teeth and makeup look fantastic. He’s just so cute and ferocious! I know the point of the calavera imagery of Dia de los Muertos isn’t to be frightening but this little bear does look like he’s trying to be. The colors around his eyes and the little hearts and designs on his cheeks really make this bear pop.
The Negatives:
Muertobear is a Great little Deddy Bear minifigure. I have a few of these, mostly the takes on the classic monsters represented by the Universal Monsters, but Muertobear was too fun to pass up. He’s also my favorite Deddy Bear so far. He’s just a colorful little guy with lots of shelf presence. Whether you’re just a collector of oddly designed bears, Sugar Skull imagery, or you celebrate Dia de los Muertos and you want some little knickknacks to have around, Muertobear delivers, all for the cost of a fin and some change.
