Fred Rogers Productions Highlights the Heart of Caregiving with ‘Many Ways to Show You Care’ Content Initiative

Fred Rogers Productions is launching Many Ways to Show You Care, a heartfelt content initiative that shines a light on caregiving as a natural and essential part of family life, featuring help from beloved Fred Rogers characters!

Starting Nov. 7, kids can tune in for a variety of meaningful content, such as the Many Ways to Show You Care docuseries, a Fred Rogers-inspired music video, themed lesson plans, and family activities. Each piece of content will be available on pbskids.org, the PBS Kids Video app, and the PBS Kids for Parents YouTube channel. These offerings are for kids aged 2-6 and provide an opportunity for them to explore the various ways people can show they care.

The Many Ways to Show You Care docuseries highlights three real-life Pittsburgh kids who participate in caretaking within their families: Ramiro, Anabella, and John. Ramiro (6) lends a helping hand to his great-grandfather, Anabella (10) supports her younger siblings, including one of her brothers who has special needs, and John (11) helps out with his dad, who has a traumatic brain injury.

Each short is packed with meaningful lessons about caretaking, made easy for kids to understand with help from Fred Rogers’ characters, such as Daniel Tiger from Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, Donkey Hodie from Donkey Hodie, and Alma Rivera from Alma’s Way, who host each episode. This kids-focused docu-series complements Caregiving, a documentary with similar themes, for an adult demographic.

Another part of the content plan is a music video — a reimagined version of the Fred Rogers song, “There Are Many Ways to Say I Love You.” This music video features moments from the series, in a perfect sing-along opportunity with Daniel Tiger, Donkey Hodie, Alma Rivera, and Mister Rogers.

Families and educators can also explore educational resources within this content plan, including curated video clips from Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, Donkey Hodie, Alma’s Way, and Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, along with accompanying lesson plans on PBS LearningMedia. The PBS Kids for Parents website will also feature caregiving-focused downloadable activities. Fred Rogers Productions, in collaboration with child development experts, created these educational materials that focus on compassion, empathy, self-care, and the importance of family support.

The Many Ways to Show You Care content initiative celebrates kids in caretaking families, reminding them that they have a support system, including their friends from Fred Rogers Productions!
