WHAT IT IS
ZhuZhu Pets, those speedy, squeaky, unpredictable little hamsters, have returned for a new generation of fans. From Cepia, the team behind the original craze (and last year’s ZhuZhu Aquarium), the new ZhuZhu City collection brings the fun into overdrive with fresh sets and characters. Kids can collect and connect vehicles, tunnels, and playsets, then let their hamsters loose to explore the city.
WHY WE LOVE IT
The hamsters still scurry, spin, and squeak with that goofy charm that made them a household name back in 2009, but the new sets take things up a notch. Watching them dart through tunnels and jump into their vehicles never gets old. It’s part nostalgia trip, part laugh-out-loud fun for kids, and just as unpredictable as ever. Worldbuilding is an important part of the play experience, and there’s plenty to do here. The different hamsters — Mr. Squiggles, Jilly, Num Nums, Scoodles, Chunk, Pipsqueak, Sophie, and Carly — have their own personalities. Fun fact: Mr. Squiggles doesn’t like being called “cute.”
