Reminder: Final Day For Hasbro Marvel Legends Series Made-to-Order X-men ’97 Apocalypse 12″ Figure

I havent watched X-Men 97 yet, though I plan to soon. But from comments Ive read, there are aspects of X-Men: TAS that were ignored or changed. Like Rogues characterization, and creating a past relationship between her and Magneto that was never even hinted at in TAS. And that they ignore Rogues close friendship with Storm as established in TAS, in favor of one with Jean.

Another criticism Ive seen is that they are rushing through or cramming in classic storylines without giving them enough time.

Like I said, this is just criticism Ive seen, so I dont know the accuracy of it. But I plan to watch 97 as soon as I can. After binging TAS, that is.

On topic: that Apocalypse looks spectacular. They really nailed the face sculpt perfectly.

This is awesome. I am definitely getting this no problem. No regrets.

I won’t extol the virtues of X-Men ’97. I will simply speak from my personal experience. If it were not for that show, I would not have started collecting marvel legends. I started shortly after the show aired and have an exclusive X-Men collection only. Because of the show I read Grant Morrisons Run and have begun reading EVERY uncanny X-Men from 94 forward. It’s influence on me has been profound and it captured a time and place in my youth I very much loved and took me back to something I had somehow forgotten. Every week I waited and watched the show at release after Midnight. I would re watch it once or twice that week looking for things i missed, felt engaged and could not wait for the next chapter. I am increasingly worried about Season 2 and if it can maintain the magic recaptured. I am reserving judgement but even if it fails to recapture quite the same magic with new writers, it is an excellent platform to receive x men marvel legends, and that I cannot complain about.

When I first started collecting I was strictly Superman and X-Men. That didn’t last lol. Welcome to action figure collecting!!!

This weekend at New York Comic Con, Hasbro announced and launched the pre-order for their 4th Made-To-Pre-Order Marvel Legends item on the Pulse website. This time it’s for a 12″ X-Men 97 Apocalypse figure which costs $119.99. The pre-order window for this one goes until the end of November 9th and you will not be charged until the item ships approximately on December 1, 2026.Today we wanted to show you a comparison of this new 12″ figure with how Apocalypse with the previous Marvel Legends Retro Cardback Animated Series Apocalypse figure Hasbro released a few years ago. We also threw in a look at what Apocalypse will look like in the second season of X-Men 97 which premiers on Disney+ in the Summer 2026. The first image shows a comparison of the 2 figures using promo images released by Hasbro as well as art of the character from the show released this weekend by Disney during NYCC. Note this image gives you a size estimation between the two figures, but shouldn’t be considered exact. The Cable figure was included in the promo image for the 12″ figure so we kept that in as well. The second image which comes via aic_podcast shows both the new 12″ figure with the Retro one standing together in the Hasbro case at NYCC. The second image really shows how close the paint apps between the two figures seem to be so you can pose them together making it look like Apocalypse is growing on your shelf if you are so inclined and if you own both figures. The new 12″ figure besides obviously being taller also include more attachments than the Retro Cardback one did. Both figures include an extra head and hands. The Retro Cardback one had a hand blaster attachment and two blast effects. The 12″ one has sized up versions of those as well as a spike ball hand, sword hand, drill hand, shield and additional blast effects. No word on what the packaging will look like for the new 12″ Apocalypse figure, but it would be cool if it also came on a big giant retro cardback. Will you be adding this new figure to your collection???

So speaking briefly about 97 vs. TAS…

I have no ill will towards the show. I have not yet seen it myself either. I’ve only heard positive things about the show. Has Disney made a lot of mistakes? Absolutely. I did not like Dial of Destiny, for example, and felt it was wholly unnecessary. And yet? Disney owning Lucasfilm and the Indiana Jones IP tapped the right creative studio to deliver one of the best Indiana Jones games in recent memory. Great Circle, I enjoyed immensely. If you also don’t allow for a company to course correct or improve? I feel like there’s no reason for them even to try to improve. I did cancel my D+ subscription, but it was for reasons completely outside of the realm of the kind of content. (That was also before I even had a chance to see Born Again).

I enjoyed Fantastic Four First Steps. To even have Fantastic Four be viewed as more than just a punching bag and meme? It’s kind of surreal. Especially when you consider that the last film was the direct result of a company having to make one to maintain and keep the license/movie rights. (Which is also how we ended up with the Amazing Spider-Man reboot).

I mean, the cynical side in me recognizes Disney (like Hasbro) is a large corporation that is primarily concerned with making money. At the end of the day, you have to pick your battles. No one is forcing you to watch or like a show. I dipped out of the Witcher Netflix show when I saw it was deviating too wildly from the source material, and with the loss of Cavill, I have no desire to even watch the rest. Support the good stuff, pass on the bad stuff, is usually how I approach it. (Find reviewers and critics who have similar tastes). I knew from the trailers that I probably wouldn’t like Madame Webb, Kraven, or Morbius. So I skipped them.

Anyway TLDR:The Apocalypse looks nice. Is he $120 nice? I don’t know. I feel like I would rather find the Retro Apocalypse at a cheaper price. In terms of an MTO? I feel like I might have wanted to see something a bit more unique that they couldn’t otherwise do. Mephisto is an example of a character that is probably difficult for them to market and sell. They could have done a Mola Ram as an MTO for the Temple of Doom wave for the Adventure series, for example. I understand he is taller in height/scale. But hey, if he doesn’t do anything for me? He will for someone else. I don’t actively collect 97 and have been more selective of which of them I pick up.

I just wish they would occasionally do an animated property other than X-97. I mean there’s still What If characters, now Zombies characters, and I’d even take a couple FNS ones. Not to mention them doing stuff from other animated shows like Spectacular Spider-Man. Can we just get literally anything else?

FNS figures were in the leaks so we should be getting some.

As for todays reveals, definitely getting that Apocalypse and Ai Apaec. Everything looks great tho. Executioner too but Im not really a Thor fan, though happy for people whove been wanting him.

they can’t do Spectacular due to the fact that Disney doesn’t own that version of the webhead.

Ok, but my point about the others still stands. They’ve done nothing but X-97 and the occasional STAS set for the past 2 years.
