A couple weekends back the Dragonball brand held their 40th anniversary celebration via their Genkidamatsuri (loosely: Spirit Bomb Festival) event in Japan. Lots of new stuff was announced including an all new Dragonball Super anime based on the Moro / Galactic Patrol arc from the manga, a retelling of the Beerus saga with all new visuals and story in anime form, new video games set in the 1000 era, and more. They even did a pretty awesome video celebrating the 40th Anniversary featuring music from composer Hans Zimmer!
The event also had an exclusive S.H. Figuarts figure from Bandai Tamashii Nations – Super Saiyan Son Goku Genkidamatsuri Edition. This is a repaint of the Legendary Super Saiyan Son Goku, which had him bulked out during the last moments of the first fight with Frieza. The figure features unique paint and coloring, including all white hair, a rose set of gear with black accents, and lots of blood and battle damage. In addition, it features 3 hair sculpts and multiple face plates, some new. A very sharp piece in pics and in-hand.
To those looking to add this to their collections but are currently sweating due to it’s Japanese exclusive status DON’T FRET – this will be available in the United States via the Dragonball Pop-Up Tour stops in 2026!
Starting in February, Dragonball will be setting up pop up locations across the US celebrating the brand. Bandai Tamashii Nations will have a store with recent releases and exclusives, their will be product display, video game and table top game exhibitions, model building, photo opportunities for the kids (and adult kids 🙂 ), plus much more. - Venue 1: Woodfield Mall – Schaumburg, Illinois – February 6th-8th 2026
- Venue 2: American Dream – East Rutherford, New Jersey – February 20th-22nd 2026
- Venue 3: Aventura Mall – Aventura, Florida – February 27th-March 1st 2026
- Venue 4: Barton Creek Square – Austin, Texas – March 6th-8th 2026
- Venue 5: The Shops at Santa Anita – Arcadia, California – March 13th-15th 2026
We hope to attend the New Jersey one again this year, it was a fun time and definitely worth a trip out to American Dream. Plus, you can snag your Genkidamatsuri Goku in person too!
