Jazzinc Dioramas has given collectors their first in-depth look at the upcoming Batman 1966 Batcave Set. The reveal showcased a prototype that captures the iconic retro set from the classic Batman television series with incredible detail and functionality.
The project is led by Andy Manolof, who crafted the prototype, with assistance from Alan Fogle on detailing and the animated Bat Radar screens. Together, they’ve built what may be the most faithful recreation of the TV Batcave ever offered at this scale.
Kit One: The Heart of the Batcave
The first offering, known as Kit One, will include four core pieces:
- Bat Computer
- Desk with navigational aid
- Bat Radar
- Illuminated lucite Gotham City map
Each piece features working lights, animated radar displays, and blinking consoles that replicate the original TV effects. A 12-volt DC power supply will daisy-chain across the set, and Jazz Inc. is exploring the possibility of powering their 1966 and 1968 Batmobiles—and even the Batcycle—through the same system.
Community-sourced reference photos were crucial in nailing down the screen-accurate details, from the glowing consoles to the blinking red Batphone.
What About Future Sets?
While Kit One is locked in for production, Jazz Inc. also teased ideas for two additional sets:
- Set Two: Featuring the Bat Poles and surrounding cave structure. Early estimates suggest production would cost between $900–$1,000, even if scaled down, raising questions about feasibility.
- Set Three: A section of the Atomic Pile. This massive display piece would also push into the $800–$1,000 range, making it a tough sell outside of the most dedicated collectors.
Both sets remain in the conceptual phase and may rely on Jazz Inc.’s new Kickstarter-style functionality on their website to gauge demand.
Release Timing
The company confirmed that Kit One is expected to launch in late October, with a production target of at least 500 units worldwide. Pricing has not yet been finalized.
For fans of the 1966 Batman series, this Batcave promises to be the ultimate display centerpiece, combining nostalgia with high-end craftsmanship.
