Shuheisha and Toei Animation announced Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol, the continuation of the Dragon Ball Super anime that will show what happens after the fight against Jiren in the Tournament of Power. This is the adaptation of the Galactic Patrol arc that puts Goku and Vegeta on a collision course with the villain Moro.
Presented in the manga over 22 chapters, Moro’s arc ended in 2020, but 6 years later he is back in the anime adaptation, a kind of second season of Dragon Ball Super which is known as Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol and finally continues the anime.
Officially, it was announced that it is ready to go into production and the official poster was presented, but we do not have any premiere date, which suggests that first we will receive the remake of Dragon Ball Super, with Beerus in a close-up, and later we will receive Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol.
Considering that the Tournament of Power ended in 2018, it’s impossible not to feel that the announcement of Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol, almost 8 years later, comes too late, but at least we know that there are plans to continue adapting the adventures of Goku and friends for anime. This is especially exciting considering the arcs already available in the manga.
However, taking into account that we do not know the plans for the Dragon Ball Super manga after the death of Akira Toriyama, it is expected that the anime adaptation will continue to take place at a slow pace, until they find a more defined future regarding the rights and who will guide Dragon Ball in the future.
