It’s time for kids to cast their ballots — voting for Sanrio’s annual Character Ranking contest is now open! The event gives kids around the world the chance to declare which Sanrio character is truly the cutest and the cuddliest.
This year’s theme, Sending Cheers and Hugs to Everyone Doing Their Very Best, is all about encouragement. The theme reminds kids that every character should be celebrated and loved, no matter their ranking.
The puppies of Sanrio took top spots in last year’s contest with Pompompurin winning first, Cinnamoroll in second, and Pochacco taking third place. With 90 Sanrio characters competing for the crown, this year’s winning title could go to anyone. The winner will be announced on June 28.
Families can cast their votes daily online at ranking.sanrio.co or by visiting Sanrio stores and cafes across North America. Along with the knowledge that they’ve performed their civic duty as Sanrio fans, your little one can also snag an “I Voted” sticker in-store while supplies last.
During the voting period, kids can explore the world of Sanrio through fan experiences and limited-time items at select locations. Hot Topic locations and Sanrio stores and cafes will also host character meet-and-greets, so kids can cheer on their favorite characters after voting.
If you’re in California or planning a trip to Universal Studios Hollywood, be sure to cast your vote in person. The Hello Kitty and Friends Cafe at Universal CityWalk in Los Angeles is offering voters new sweet treats. The limited-time menu features event-inspired items, including the Mixed Berry Sponge Cake and Mixed Berry Black Tea Lemonade.
