The Facts:
Height: 4 inches
The Positives:
* You’re really paying for the novelty item here rather than the tiny bag of candy so, fortunately, this is a pretty nifty little Michael Myers. He’s got an oversized head and slightly exaggerated features but overall he’s not really stylized or cutesy or anything. He’s a solid figure with decent paintwork. Michael’s wearing his coveralls which are very blue here like they appear on screen, although the Halloween 2 coveralls were actually “Spruce Green.” It looks correct to the eye, though.
* Michael’s head is a bit oversized and a little bit exaggerated, but it’s actually not bad. I like the all black eyes (the devil’s eyes!) and the just slightly pearlescent skin. It’s actually a really solid take on the character.
* The hair looks right, too. It’s a bit wild looking but not too crazy. Again, it just looks right to me.
* Another thing that I really appreciate about this figure is that he’s wielding a knife. That’s Michael’s most famous weapon but so many of the toys that are technically based on Halloween 2 equip him with a hammer. The knife is just iconic, though, and makes this a good, solid take on the character that can work for just about any film.
* What lies in the mind of Michael Myers? You decide! The back of the head opens to reveal an empty space where the bag of included candy was kept. Once you can eat the candy, you can put whatever you want inside. More candy, a plastic skull, loose change; it’s something of a psychological experiment.
* Since I no longer have the candy, here’s the ingredients list and details. It was vaguely fruity and kind of like Nerds, though not as tangy. It seriously tastes like the same kind of candy so many of these little toys came with back in the late 1980s when I remember them always sitting at the register at KB Toys.
You know what? I really, really like this little guy (and not just because he was a gift from my mom). This is just a very cool Michael Myers figurine. He’s simple in some ways, sure, but he’s a great take on a classic Michael Myers. The mask looks pretty good, too. It feels like Michael Myers’ mask is something that’s really tough to get right but I think CandyRific did a pretty nice job with this guy, especially considering the style. And being able to open his head? That’s just really amusing to me. This is a Great and a 1/2 little trinket that you might want to track down if you’re a huge Halloween fan. Now, speaking of Halloween (the holiday, not the movie), check back tomorrow for a special Re-Halloween treat: Another Michael Myers review!
