Legendary Comics Writer Gerry Conway Has Passed Away
Gerry Conway, a true icon of the comic book industry has died at 73. His death was confirmed by Marvel Comics, which issued tributes from leadership including Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige and Marvel Comics Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski. While an official cause of death was not immediately released, it was noted that Conway had been battling cancer.

Conway was a defining voice of the Bronze Age of Comics, breaking into the industry at age 16 and scripting nearly every major character by his early 20s. Among his Marvel comics highlights, he co-created the iconic vigilante Frank Castle in The Amazing Spider-Man #129. Other characters he co-created include Ms. Marvel (Carol Danvers), Ben Reilly (aka the Spider-Clone), Werewolf by Night, Tombstone, and Marvel�s version of Dracula. He also wrote �The Night Gwen Stacy Died� one of the most impactful stories in comic history, forever changing the stakes for Peter Parker.

Conway was also a successful television producer and screenwriter. His TV credits include writing for animated classics G.I. Joe, and The Transformers. He also co-wrote the feature films Conan the Destroyer and the animated cult classic Fire and Ice.
