American Girl introduced Daisy to fans this morning with an exclusive look at the debut book, Daisy Davenport Saves the Day. While the Daisy doll doesn’t launch until September, kids can get a glimpse at the character — she appears on the book cover in a pink T-shirt and matching headband. The book is available to preorder now, and more details about Daisy’s story will be released this fall.
Daisy Davenport Saves the Day, by Megan Wagner Lloyd, invites young readers to join Daisy on an adventure at Camp Gowonagin. While Daisy expects a summer full of fun, not everything goes as planned: Daisy has to navigate camp on her own after her best friend, Callie, gets injured and can’t join her. Over the course of the summer, Daisy steps outside her comfort zone in different ways — physically, by going on hikes and canoeing, and emotionally, as she grows in confidence in an unfamiliar palace. The story explores themes like homesickness, friendship, and personal growth that many kids will understand.
