Disney is adding a sprinkle of pixie dust to patriotism!
In honor of America’s 250th birthday, the company is kicking off a star-spangled series of events, from TV programs and theme park attractions to community outreach supporting U.S. military members and their families. Titled Disney Celebrates America, this experience invites families to celebrate, spend time together, and have fun, while learning more about the history, landmarks, and creativity that define the Land of the Free.
The celebration kicks off on June 29 with Disney Celebrates America: The Pursuit of Happiness, a 2-hour primetime special on ABC examining the nation’s traditions and triumphs through the lens of Disney Parks attractions.
The special sets the stage for the headlining event: an unprecedented 24-hour July 4th broadcast, airing across Disney+, Hulu, National Geographic, FX, ESPN, ABC, and all its affiliated networks and TV stations. Hosted by World News Tonight anchor David Muir, with featured appearances from other news and talk-show legends, this program dives into defining moments in the nation’s 250-year history, complete with live events, performances, and on-site reporting throughout the states. Families can tune into the program starting on the evening of July 3.
Other programming highlights include special editions of Good Morning America, World News Tonight with David Muir, SportsCenter, and Nightline; the live concert event Disney Celebrates America: Nashville’s Star-Spangled Bash; an America 250 roadtrip web series on espn.com; and featured segments spotlighting America’s history and innovations past, present, and future.

The patriotism continues coast-to-coast, from patriotic activities onboard Disney Cruise Line to a new version of Soarin’ opening in EPCOT and Disney California Adventure Park on July 2, featuring iconic cities and landscapes from across the U.S. Park visitors can also experience themed food and beverage offerings, merchandise, decor, parades, band performances, nighttime entertainment, and events, like flag retreat ceremonies.
As part of the campaign, Disney is also renewing its long-standing relationship with Blue Star Families by committing $2.5 million to help support U.S. service members and their families. The donations will go toward a wide range of experiences and programs throughout the year, such as the 25th Disney and Blue Star Books event in Washington, D.C., at the Library of Congress, as well as storytime activities and character appearances.
