DC Multiverse dominates this week's action figure news with multiple new releases and pre-orders announced from McFarlane Toys.
This week, it’s all about DC Multiverse as McFarlane Toys rolls out an expansion of their popular 7″ Scale Figure line. The immediate highlight is the introduction of four new Batman figures and a Bruce Wayne, creating a significant buzz for Dark Knight enthusiasts. The pre-orders for these figures, as noted by The Toyark, are set to begin later today, likely around Noon EST. Collectors who have been tracking the Multiverse line will appreciate the variety these new figures introduce, but it also brings a predictable complaint — Batman overload — which McFarlane seems happy to indulge.
Alongside Bat-centric releases, McFarlane Toys also announced three additional figures, broadening the scope of the DC Multiverse offerings. According to another report from The Toyark, figures representing Superman (Val-Zod), Mary Shazam, and Star Sapphire are now available for pre-order, each priced at $34.99. These characters, less frequently tackled in the action figure market, add some diversity to the lineup and are expected to ship in November.
Aliens and Nostalgia
In other notable news, Hot Toys continues to delve into nostalgic franchises with the announcement of a new Corporal Dwayne Hicks figure from the 1986 classic, ‘Aliens’. The revelation, reported by The Toyark, includes a new head sculpt of actor Michael Biehn, along with an impressive array of accessories, like a Pulse Rifle and interchangeable hands. This 1/6 scale figure promises to be a detailed addition to any ‘Aliens’ fan’s collection.
Overlooked Favorites and Halloween Nostalgia
This week also revisits some fan favorites and forgotten gems. A blog post on She’s Fantastic takes a retrospective look at Rita Repulsa from Playmates’ ‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Re-Ignition’ line. Despite a nearly overlooked status for a Halloween-themed feature, Rita remains a nostalgic character for many, drawing on her witchy aura.
Similarly, the Universal Monsters Mini-Mates Series see some renewed interest, with ‘She’s Fantastic’ again highlighting the arcane Princess Anck-es-en-Amon figure, a cherished relic rediscovered after years. Despite its age, the figure presents a tangible link to the classic horror roots that continue to inspire toy lines and collectors alike.
Wrapping up the Halloween spirit is Thrilljoy’s PIX! Garbage Pail Kids vinyl Jack O. Lantern figure, spotlighted by Action Figure Barbecue. This release taps into the seasonal love for all things spooky, continuing a tradition with a modern twist as Thrilljoy establishes itself in a saturated market.
