The Toy Association’s 2026 DC Fly-In and Day of Play demonstrate why advocacy is increasingly becoming a critical part of the toy industry’s business strategy. Nearly 30 industry representatives participating in more than 40 bipartisan meetings gives toy companies a direct opportunity to educate policymakers about the real-world impact of decisions involving tariffs, trade, safety, regulation, and affordability. Just as importantly, bringing more than 300 policymakers, congressional staff, and industry leaders together for hands-on play helps communicate something that spreadsheets and policy briefs cannot: toys are not simply consumer products, but important tools for childhood development, creativity, learning, and social connection. For the industry, maintaining a visible and unified presence in Washington helps ensure that the business of play—and the families and companies it supports—has a meaningful voice when policies affecting its future are being shaped.
From meetings with lawmakers to hands-on play experiences on Capitol Hill, The Toy Association’s 2026 Annual DC Fly-In & Day of Play brought the toy industry together to champion the value of play and advocate for policies that support the industry. During the Fly-In on June 10th, nearly 30 toy industry representatives met with members of Congress, senators, leadership offices, key committee staff and administration officials, during more than 40 bipartisan and bicameral meetings.
On June 11th, The Toy Association hosted its Annual Day of Play on Capitol Hill in honor of the United Nations’ International Day of Play while reinforcing the toy industry’s shared commitment to protecting childhood through play. The event welcomed more than 300 congressional staff, policymakers, toy industry leaders, and guests for an afternoon of playful camaraderie, light bites, and interactive experiences designed to showcase the developmental and social benefits of play.
