This batch of Collectibles coverage might be light on big-ticket announcements, but it brings an assortment of intriguing niche releases for enthusiasts with an eye for the eclectic.
Flawtoys’ Sci-Fi Crossover: Cryo Stranger Figure
Flawtoys has teamed up with Severed Dreams Studio to unveil the “Cryo Stranger,” a handmade resin figure that melds Flawtoys’ familiar silhouette with a distinctively eerie sci-fi aesthetic. As featured on SpankyStokes, the figure appears designed to stand out among more conventional collectibles, potentially appealing to collectors interested in handmade, artist-driven pieces.
Designer Toys Cross Into 3D: Lunkhead Bob
In another piece of designer toy news, the whimsical character “Lunkhead Bob” by DR Toys (Dave Russell) is making the transition from sketchbook drawing to physical release. According to SpankyStokes, this blue-skinned, lanky misfit is set to enrich the collections of fans who enjoy capturing imaginative creations in tangible form. This release highlights the ongoing trend of turning digital or illustrated works into collectible pieces.
Sofubi Expansion: Introducing PEACH
Dehara and Precious Junkz have joined forces again to bring “PEACH,” a sofubi release, to life. Such releases often find a dedicated audience among collectors who appreciate the blending of art, narrative, and craftsmanship.
Odds and Ends
- There’s a resurgence of nostalgia with Hot Wheels’ release of the 1978 Custom Plymouth Road Runner from the “Fast and Furious” franchise, covered by Leituras do Best. This die-cast model caters to fans of the long-running film series and those who collect film-themed car models.
- The continued evolution of the Masters of the Universe narrative was noted with a new comic release, providing more layers to fan-favourite characters like He-Man and Evil Lyn, as seen on Leituras do Best.
- Lastly, TOYSREVIL is undergoing a temporary content slowdown due to logistical issues from a site move, which might impact fans’ regular stream of updates (TOYSREVIL).
Overall, it’s a week with distinctive releases underscoring a commitment to originality and the storytelling potential of collectibles, even in a quieter news cycle.
