It’s been an exciting few days in the action figure world, thanks to the significant reveals from New York Comic-Con 2026. The annual event has been a treasure trove of new announcements and reveals, providing collectors and enthusiasts with plenty to look forward to in the coming months. Here’s what caught our eye.
Star Wars and Marvel Legends Highlights at NYCC
Two of the most anticipated panels at NYCC were undoubtedly the Star Wars and Marvel Legends panels, where representatives shared a slew of upcoming releases from beloved lines (Toyark). The Star Wars panel showcased additions to both The Black Series and The Vintage Collection. Although images and details are now available, the pre-order rollout for these figures will be staggered over the next several weeks, meaning fans will need to stay alert to secure their desired collectibles.
The Marvel Legends panel wasn’t left behind, with announcements from lines like Doomsday and X-Men 97. Like their Star Wars counterparts, these releases will also have a staggered pre-order schedule. Fans of both franchises have a lot to anticipate, with visuals available for an enticing preview (Toyark).
NECA and Elvira: Mistress of the Dark
In a separate vein, NECA has presented the full release details for the long-awaited Elvira: Mistress of the Dark Ultimate Figure at NYCC (Toyark). This 7-inch scale figure promises to be a standout on any collector’s shelf, capturing Cassandra Peterson’s iconic character in meticulous detail. This figure had been teased with preview images last month, but the official reveal solidifies its presence in the market and has already grabbed the attention of horror aficionados and 80s nostalgia fans alike.
An Unusual Addition to G.I. Joe: Classified Series
Beyond the Comic-Con buzz, Hasbro adds an intriguing new character to the G.I. Joe: Classified Series, with the release of Professor Rottclaw & Cobra Deinonychus (Action Figure Barbecue). The figure displays unique design elements, such as a feathered collar complementing Rottclaw’s Deinonychus companion, and a curved bone weapon, setting this figure apart from past Cobra agents. While the figure has prompted discussions around its cultural influences, with suggestions of potential ties to South African indigenous groups, specifics remain unclear.
Overall, this latest wave of reveals and releases marks an exciting time for collectors. Whether it’s the vast universes of Star Wars and Marvel, or the unique appeal of Elvira and G.I. Joe’s new additions, there’s plenty to keep action figure enthusiasts engaged in the months ahead.
